Safety and Security Manager, The Americas - Mountain View

The role: Safety and Security Manager, The Americas

Security is at the core of Google's design and development process: it is built into the DNA of our products. The same is true of our offices. You're an expert who shares our seriousness about security and our commitment to confidentiality. You'll manage the security staff who keep our Googlers safe and our world-class technologies and facilities secure. You'll collaborate with our Facilities Management team to create innovative security strategies, investigate breaches and create risk assessment plans for the future. You believe that providing effective security doesn't come at the expense of customer service - you will be our bodyguard (and our long lost pal).

Responsibilities:

• Establish a culture of safety through communications and awareness, standards, policies and practices.
• Manage the operations of the vendors providing services including training, ergonomics, assessments, and industrial hygiene.
• Collaborate with other groups within Google (HR, Legal, etc.) and outside of Google (Emergency Services and Departments of Environmental Health, etc.) regarding daily operations and planning, identifying safety and security deficiencies and appropriate enhancements to ensure performance to our standards and compliance with regulations.
• Develop safety and security plans for onsite events and other activities to assure proper safety and security of participants.
• Perform data analysis and benchmarking to support safety and security risk assessments and hazard identification; Conduct investigations into accident root cause to develop corrective actions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree. In In lieu of degree, 5 years of relevant experiences.
• 5 years related Environmental, Health and Safety experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Safety Professional or other safety professional designations.
• Proven record of developing innovative safety processes, procedures and training.
• Experience with physical security design and operations, including guard force management.
• Knowledge of workplace safety regulations including U.S. OSHA, Canada Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, NFPA and others.
• Excellent customer service and partnership skills including the ability to effectively.
• Ability to travel 25% within North America.
